Amy Discusses Perimenopause and Making a Major Health Decision

Amy announced that she had big news and hinted that the news would impact everyone and involved hormones, which led to speculation.

She is currently in perimenopause and has officially scheduled an appointment to begin hormone replacement therapy. Amy explained that she would be getting blood work done to check her hormone levels, including estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, and would be working with a new doctor who specializes in both gynecology and hormone therapy. Amy said she decided to switch doctors after realizing she would not recommend her previous one to a friend. She noted that in the past she had tried testosterone without consistently following up with blood work and eventually stopped on her own without consulting a doctor. This time, she wanted to take a more proactive and consistent approach.

She explained that hormone replacement therapy involves supplementing hormones the body is no longer producing at sufficient levels. Amy said the goal is to improve mood, energy, sleep, and overall well-being. She feels on the verge of a positive change and is hopeful that getting her hormone levels balanced will make her feel like a new version of herself. Amy also emphasized that making the appointment was significant for her because it was something she had put off for a long time. She committed to staying consistent with follow-up appointments and blood work going forward.

The conversation then shifted to broader health topics, including full-body scans and early detection. Amy shared her experience with body scans that revealed a kidney stone and an ovarian cyst. Amy reiterated that having information about one’s health can be empowering and help people take action earlier. She said that increased awareness around perimenopause allows women to better understand changes they experience and seek treatment rather than assuming they have to simply endure it.
