Many of us have lost loved ones during the last ten months. If you’ve been struggling with grief or have worried about family members or friends who have been sick you might want to read,The Beauty of What Remains: How Our Greatest Fear Becomes Our Greatest Gift.I talked with the author Steve Leder earlier this week. Steve is the senior rabbi at a large synagogue on the west coast. He often pops up on tv talk shows to discuss difficult topics like the one that inspired his latest book, the death of his father. His dad died of Alzheimer’s about a year and a half ago. As the rabbi of a large congregation Steve spends a lot of time meeting with families who are grieving and has some really helpful insights for us. During our conversation we talked about how to encourage those who are sick, how to remember and honor those who have passed and how important it is to allow ourselves the time to grieve. If you have a few minutes, I think you’ll be encouraged by his words today.
