Monday Night Football Ditches Hank Jr. Opening

Hank Jr. & his rowdy friends have been replaced.

Hank Williams Junior's "All My Rowdy Friends Are Here on Monday Night" opening for ESPN's Monday Night Football has officially been scrapped in favor of Little Richard's "Rip It Up." It doesn't seem like this happens very often however the move to change the open for this season is not political. The network felt that Hank's "Rowdy Friends" wasn't appropriate for games that will be played without spectators.

In 2011, it was political. The song was axed because of disparaging remarks he made about President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. Hank returned with the open in 2017.

So far Hank hasn't made any comments about the switch on social media.
