If you’re a woman born between about 1965 and the early 80’s you’re part of the Gen X generation. Ada Calhoun was born in 1976 and has written a book called,Why We Can’t Sleep: Women’s New Mid-Life Crisis. A few years ago she was asked to give a voice to women of her generation in an article for O Magazine. She did and got so much response, decided to then write a book. Recently, she talked with me about some specifics related to Gen X women, like, many of them were latchkey kids, 40% of their parents got divorced and though they are very independent they are plagued but thinking that they have to do everything well and it’s keeping them up at night. She refers to her generation as the Jan Brady generation, stuck between the millennials and the boomers, kind of a generation that just hasn’t gotten much attention. She does have some suggestions for women who are feeling over-whelmed by life and we talked about those in our conversation. You can listen right here!
