Hunter Hayes Tells Laurie That His New Song Is An Anthem For Singles

Can you believe that Sunday in the Country is going to be here next month? Every year I think back to some of the artists we’ve had onstage at our annual country festival and the other day I was talking to one of them, Hunter Hayes. Hunter was here in 2011 along with Brantley Gilbert, The Band Perry, Joe Nichols, Josh Turner and Steel Magnolia (remember them?). But Hunter was a stand out for the fans, they came out in droves to meet him and see him onstage. I remember the women who were screaming his name. I also remember that he dropped by our studio to announce the line-up that year. He’s a talented guy and a nice guy. Did you ever see the movie,The Apostle? It came out in 1997 and starred Robert Duvall, Farrah Fawcett and you guessed it, Hunter Hayes, he played one of their kids in the film. Right now, Hunter is working on a new album, the details about when it comes out and what he’ll call it are still a little up in the air but it was great just catching up with him. He talked about his new single, "Heartbreak," and why he considers it to be an anthem for singles. He also reflected on what the hardest part of his business (the music business) is and what he looks for in a person he might want to date. It might surprise you. Hope you’ll take the time to listen to our conversation today.
