Is "Old Country Road" By Lil Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus "Country" Enough?

While “Billboard” may have pulled Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” from the Hot Country Songs chart for not being country enough, the song is apparently still making an impression with country fans.

The tune, which recently got the remix treatment thanks to Billy Ray Cyrus, just debuted at number 53 on the Country Airplay chart, which is based on radio airplay, thanks to spins from syndicated programs like The Bobby Bones Show. It also seems to be resonating with pop fans as well, it just dethroned Ariana Grande's "7 Rings" for the top spot on the “Billboard” Hot 100 singles chart this week. The song was getting some attention prior to its remix with country legend Billy Ray Cyrus but really gained momentum once he put his name on it. Despite Cyrus giving it his stamp of approval, some people are still not convinced. The song has really brought country music to the forefront of the conversation with people debating what constitutes a country song. Is this country enough for you?
