How Laurie DeYoung's Son Turned Her Into A "Moon-Watcher"

So this is a photo (below) from probably about 27 years ago, notice my hair back then was it’s real color! I’m with my son Taylor, who is now 30, but I was thinking about him today because this Sunday night we’re getting a rare “blood supermoon.” It will be big and should turn a deep crimson hue just before midnight.

I’ve been a moon-watcher ever since a summer night when Taylor was about 3. I was busy cleaning up the kitchen from a late night dinner and he kept running in from outside telling me there was something he wanted to show me. Several times I waved him off telling him I was “busy.” Finally, to end the constant interruptions, I said, “okay, I’m coming.” When I walked outside, he looked up and said, “mom, I wanted you to see the moon!” I wanted to cry, I had been so busy with something that really could have waited I almost missed the most important thing in life, seeing the wonder in my child’s face over the beauty of the moon. I have been a dedicated moon-watcher ever since.

Thank you Taylor for being persistent all those years ago, it changed my perspective from then on. What has your child taught you lately?
