Maryland Parents Sentenced in YouTube Abuse Case

posted by Claire Scattergood -

Their videos shocked people all around the country, and many called for this local couple to be investigated by police.

They said they got carried away "playing pranks" on their children.

Heather and Michael Martin of Ijamsville entered guilty pleas to charges of child neglect, and were sentenced to 5 years of probation.

The Martins had a YouTube channel stocked with videos that showed them berating, cursing at, and even pushing their children. An investigation by Frederick County found that 11-year-old Emma and 10-year-old Cody Martin, the biological children of Michael Martin and the stepchildren of Heather Martin, had experienced “observable, identifiable and substantial impairments of their mental or psychological ability to function.” (source)
