If Hootie and the Blowfish were to come out today they would 100% be considered a country band. But, back in the 90's, they found themselves in the alternative and pop world. I think the same would be true for The Black Crowes. Their style of rock music would be very accepted in today's landscape of country. The 90's were a different time, though. Country music radio listeners weren't as accepting to new sounds. Could you imagine hearing some of those classic Garth and Reba songs mixed up with Hootie and the Blowfish and Sheryl Crow? Not a chance.
I say all that to give you some background into why I thought last night's performance with Darius Rucker joining the Black Crowes was so special. They did the classic 'She Talks To Angels' and they sounded incredible. It's a song that has inspired every country artist, probably. I loved seeing it front and center getting the love that it deserves.
