For me, 36 new songs is too much. I've had this conversation with people in the music industry and we all basically agree. It's better to send out a smaller package of your best songs than it is to dump too much music on people.
But in the world of streaming numbers being so important, artists drop way too much music in order to stack their streaming numbers.
Morgan Wallen just announced his upcoming album 'One Thing At A Time.' It's set to come in March and will feature 36 songs. Now, Morgan has done this before. He dropped the 'Dangerous The Double Album'. While it's a great record, there are quite a few songs that don't hold up with the rest. We'll see what happens with this one.
He says that the project will represent the last few years of his life, and it will feature the styles of music that influence him. So you'll hear his brand of country but also rock and hip-hop. Wallen and his label have made it no secret that they want to push him toward the pop audience, though that audience hasn't been as receptive to this point. I'm interested to hear what he has in store for us.
