I'll never forget the time I first saw 'Evil Dead 2'. I was hanging out with some kids down the street from my house. I wasn't close friends with them but I was invited over for a group hang. I was probably 12 or 13 years old. They wanted to have a scary movie night. The family broke out the 80's horror classic 'Evil Dead 2'. I had never seen it, and much like all of you right now, I had never even heard of it. It was a B movie at best but it developed a cult following over the years. It was the scariest thing I had ever seen. I had nightmares for weeks.
I revisited the film a few years later when I was a bit older and realized how brilliant it is. The whole initial franchise of Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army Of Darkness is amazing.
Fast forward a few decades and there's been a new push to bring it back. The star of the films, Bruce Campbell, had a TV series pop up called 'Ash vs The Evil Dead' and there was an attempt to reboot the franchise with a new version of 'The Evil Dead.' I figured they had given up at this point but I just came across a trailer for a new film titled 'Evil Dead Rise.' I'm hoping they have high hopes for this one because the trailer is brutal.
