My Top 10 Horror Movies And Shows Currently On Netflix

Something you may not know about me, but now you do. I love horror movies. There's nothing like turning out all the lights, grabbing a bucket of popcorn and popping on something that's going to give you nightmares for the rest of the week. I really like the more psychological programs that really get into your head. But a good jump scare is always nice too. I rolled through Netflix to see what they had to offer and here are my picks for the 10 best horror movies and TV series currently available.

1) The Haunting Of Hill House - Creator Mike Flanagan is the master of the slow burn. The first episode seems kind of slow but then grabs you and doesn't let go until the finale.

2) IT: Chapter One - Unfortunately only chapter one is available right now but it's worth it. That clown still haunts my dreams.

3) The Conjuring 2 - They took the basic idea of the first film, flew it to England and turned it up to 11.

4) 1BR - This one I watched on a whim and really liked it. It's an indie film about a girl who thinks she found the perfect apartment. . She quickly realizes it's more than she bargained for.

5) The Babysitter - It's a bit campy at times but it also gives you a nice throwback feel to the slasher films of the 80's.

6) Midnight Mass - Another series done by Mike Flanagan. It's got some good scares along with some very thought provoking social commentary.

7) Fear Street (all three films) - This trilogy holds a special place in my heart because I grew up reading the Fear Street books. I think there's room in these movies for improvement, but I really enjoyed them as a whole. I do think you need to watch them all to really take it all in.

8) It Follows - This one creeped me out big time and, forgive my play on words, I truly felt like it followed me around for a while.

9) The Bye Bye Man - It's not the flashiest movie but there's something to it. There's a creepiness in knowing that all you have to do is think something and your life can be forever changed.

10) The Midnight Club - This is a new series that just came out. And yes, I do love Mike Flanagan projects. It's maybe geared more towards a teen audience, but there's some great content here. Again, it's a slow burn. You have to stick with it to start to see everything come together. I promise you that it's worth it.
