I love a good joke GoFundMe, but this one is kind of ridiculous. Football fans, specifically those in Baltimore, have been itching to see what happens with Lamar Jackson's contract. He's in the final year of his rookie deal and he's looking for an extension. Jackson even told the team that they have until tomorrow (9/9/22) to get a deal done. What happens if there isn't a deal? We don't know the answer to that. Will he play? Or will he sit out to avoid injury?
We also don't know why there hasn't been a deal yet. From all we know the Ravens essentially gave Lamar a blank check but they still haven't found a deal. Maybe he's looking for too much guaranteed money? Deshawn Watson got $230 million guaranteed and he hasn't had anywhere near the success of Jackson.
Some Ravens fans got together for a GoFundMe to try and keep Lamar in town. Their goal is a lofty $250 million. I sincerely hope no one actually gives any money to this. But we all know that people donated money to a fake 'build the wall' campaign so it's clear that people are dumb with their money.
