I think I spend more time scrolling through movies on streaming services than I do actually watching them. But, since I spend so much time looking, I've come across a few fantastic and hidden gems that I think you might love. Here are my top 5 right now.
1) She's Out Of My League - Netflix
This movie isn't going to win any awards but it's damn funny and ridiculous. I still laugh at it and I've seen it countless times. It's a bit of a sleeper though, so you might not have seen it pop up. Give it a try for comedy movie night.
2) Very Bad Things - Peacock
Everyone has seen the Hangover but not nearly as many have seen the movie that inspired it. Well, I don't know if it actually inspired the Hangover but Very Bad Things has a very similar story line. It's super dark comedy and has an incredible cast. I went to the movie theater three nights in a row when it came out. The first night we went just to check it out. We loved it so much we went back for night two. Then night three we decided to introduce it to other friends.
3) Toy Soldiers - Hulu
This one follows a group of private school students as their school is taken over by a Latin American drug cartel. Sean Astin plays the lead but there's a great cast of familiar faces from the 80's and 90's in there.
4) Goon - Amazon Prime Video
Seann William Scott plays a mediocre hockey player. What he lacks in skill he makes up for in toughness. It's all about foul mouthed minor league hockey. What's not to love?
5) The Terminal - Netflix
This movie seems to get forgotten among the amazing films that Tom Hanks has made. He plays a man trapped in an airport because his country gets taken over by a military coup while he's in the air. Technically he now has no home and he can't enter the United States. The film follows him as he tries to turn the airport into a home. It's a very charming and heartfelt film.
