Diversity and accountability have been hot topics in Nashville for a few years now. The spotlight may be shining brighter on the subject since Morgan Wallen's ugly headlines. It's been a goal of many artists and industry insiders to break through the stereotypes of country music. And it hasn't been an easy road. For every person that says Nashville is better than the stereotypes, there's still someone waving the confederate flag with pride. It's a constant game of tug-of-war.
I do find it someone humorous because most of the biggest stars in the country music world are super liberals. But because they sing about beer and trucks their fans think they're conservative icons. It gives me a chuckle.
Luke Combs and Maren Morris took part in a discussion on diversity and accountability during the Country Radio Seminar this week. I thought their conversation was very interesting and thought I'd share it with you.
