Cyclists from the United States and all across the world will be converging on Baltimore for Labor Day 2020. The newly created Maryland Cycling Classic is set to debut on September 6, 2020.
Union Cycliste Internationale, the group behind many international races (including the Tour de France), and USA Cycling selected Baltimore to host one of its Elite ProSeries bicycle races.
Officials are still trying to finalize a race route, but the finish line is being planned for somewhere in Downtown Baltimore.
They expect over 100,000 people from all over the world to come downtown in Charm City to watch the event, and the economic impact could be up around $20 million.
Much like Preakness Week, organizers are looking to schedule a weekend full of activities leading up to the big race. Should be an exciting time in Baltimore!
