I think we've all seen the posts on social media from our friends that have paid a visit to Chicago. People always stop by the Willis Tower to get on the SkyDeck and get a picture 103 floors above the Windy City. Unfortunately, I haven't experienced it because it's been closed both times I've been to Chicago. Maybe that's a good thing?
The SkyDeck's protective layer covering the glass splintered into thousands of pieces as guests were looking on. I can't even imagine what my heart would do if I had been out there when that happened.
Now, the attraction says the protective layer did exactly what it was supposed to do. It covers the glass to keep it from scratching, so people can get the clearest view. There was no safety hazard for any of the people around, but I'm sure it took a few years off their lives.
