Ever since the General Assembly passed a law allowing local school districts to determine their own start dates, there's been a lot of talk about the upcoming school calendars. Baltimore County Schools got the process going last night.
The school board approved a calendar for the 2019-2020 school year that would have students coming back after Labor Day, and would also give them a 10 day spring break.
The board had considered having students come back to school before Labor Day, but an online poll showed major support for having them start after the holiday due to already planned vacation time.
The new calendar will see Spring break between April 4th through April 14th. But the kids could be in class until near the end of June. If there are five or more bad weather days, the last day of school will be Friday June 19th. If Mother Nature is particularly harsh there could be school on President's Day and the Monday after Easter.
