Residents of Onoway, Alberta, got a huge surprise when their water taps started pouring out pink water. Could you imagine seeing this when you turned on the faucet?
Even though it looks crazy, the town's Mayor issued a statement saying there was no public health risk, but admitted the town could've done a better job communicating what was going on.
He said it was the unfortunate side-effect of a common water-treatment chemical, potassium permanganate. A stuck valve that allowed an excess amount of the chemical into the town's water distribution center may have been to blame.
