Mysterious Light Pillars Light Up Canada's Night Sky

posted by @stpierreonair -

It was 1:30am in Ontario, Canada when Timothy was tending to his crying child.  He happened to look out the window and saw this fascinating scene.

The so-called light pillars are vertical columns of colors that appear when light reflects off the mirror-like surfaces of ice crystals.  They're typically seen in polar regions but can appear at lower latitudes in frigid temperatures.

Thankfully, he was quick to grab his camera so we can all enjoy the magic.
