Tim Brown, Purchasing Director at Smyth Jewelers

After earning his Hotel and Restaurant Management degree at Pennsylvania Culinary

Institute, Tim began his professional career in the restaurant industry. By the age of 25, he became the youngest General Manager in the restaurant group.

Seeking a new challenge, Tim joined the Smyth Jewelers team. Inspired by the company's culture and commitment to both its employees and customers, he started in sales and was promoted to Sales Manager just 15 months later. Drawing on his hospitality background, Tim also led the planning and execution of large-scale customer events.

After eight years in sales management, Tim moved into jewelry buying. He completed diamond training through the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in New York, specializing in diamonds while expanding his knowledge of estate and vintage jewelry. Over time, Tim became the company's Estate & Vintage Jewelry and Loose Diamond Buyer, while also serving as Assistant Manager of the buying team.

In 2017, Tim was promoted to Purchasing Director. In this role, he oversees the company's purchasing strategy across all jewelry categories, working closely with a talented team of buyers to curate an exceptional assortment for our customers. Today, he continues to oversee the purchase of the estate jewelry and loose diamond categories while managing the department.
