Karl Getschel serves as Vice President of Operations for Smyth Jewelers, continuing a family legacy that began when his great-grandfather founded the company in 1914. A fourth-generation member of the Smyth family, Karl grew up around the business and counts his time at the store among his earliest memories. After graduating from Roanoke College in 1999, Karl earned a graduate degree in gemology from the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, California, and he then officially joined Smyth Jewelers. Karl later earned his MBA from William & Mary and became a manager for Tiffany & Company before rejoining the family business in 2011. When he is not at Smyth, Karl enjoys traveling, going to concerts, and making memories with his wife and daughters.
