A woman in Madison, Wisconsin has been charged with attempted first-degree intentional murder after she allegedly tried to poison her husband THREE TIMES!
Amanda Chapin, 50, of Monroe, according to police poisoned her 70-year-old husband, Gary Chapin, by adding barbiturates into his coffee, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.
The couple got married last March and now just five months later the newly wed is accused of trying to kill her husband! Following the wedding, Amanda Chapin forged the signature of one of her husband's children on a power-of-attorney document, then demanded her husband update his house deed so she would get the home if he died. The complaint says she poisoned her husband for the first time less than three weeks after the quit claim deed on the house was authorized. The third time he drank the allegedly poisoned coffee, in early August, he fell into a coma that lasted for four days, the complaint said. Bloodwork showed barbiturates in his system came from drugs used to euthanize animals. Somehow Gary survived all three attempts at his life. Then Amanda attempted suicide but paramedics managed to get her to a local hospital to get her help before it was too late. Gary Chapin filed for divorce the next day.
Now Amanda's cell mates better be watching their beverages carefully!
