ABC 7 in DC is reporting "Virginia restaurant receives backlash for insensitive 9/11 menu, issues apology" Restaurant manager George White publicly apologized for the menu posting - "I apologize for those I offended with the 9/11 seafood Sunday post," he said in a community Facebook group. "My intention was to bring attention to that horrific day 21 years ago. To honor those who lost so much as well [as] those who gave everything that day. We will have a new theme tomorrow."
TMZ managed to get a copy on the offensive menu before it was deleted on line if you'd like to see what created this conversation. I'm willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't trying to be funny. Like I said on air, . Sounds like someone who didn't actually experience 9/11 first hand who was trying to be relevant. Not sure of George White's age but my guess is he wasn't old enough in 2001 to really understand the enormity what happened. At least, I'd like to hope so. Either way, I hope he learns from this one. -MJ
