Now an ex-con has reveals as a burglar what it would take for him to go onto the next house while casing a prospective home to break into. He's identified ONE item that stopped him everytime,
This professional burglar says he'd always pass up on houses with a 'beware of dogs ' sign on display. Stating how signs with 'big dogs' such as German shepherds or Rottweilers pictured on them are most effective, he says homeowners don't even need to have a dog to be able to install a sign.
Shared by Reddit, the former crook said: "Targeting a house with a dog, or mention of a dog, isn't worth it. I'd want to be in and out within 15 minutes maximum and having to possibly deal with a dog would put the job at risk.
Although not all burglars would avoid a house just because it has a warning sign, but they would be stupid to when there's an easier house right next door."
If you are looking to buy some of these signs, here's a variety of options from Amazon.
