The Most Powerful Women in Country Music on International Women's Day

We all need strong leaders, mentors. Others who've come before us, who have blazed a trail for us to follow. Here are examples of women shattering stereotypes and leading organizations that produce Great Country music AND record EBITDA. Congratulations to women everywhere on th International Women's Day for your accomplishments and success stories. As a proud girl dad of two, here's to more glass ceilings smashed and women in the White House and board rooms.

Now meet just a small sample of the amazing women helping to create the music you love.

Renee' Leymon is the VP of radio syndication and group strategy with BMG Records in Nashville. The only global alternative to the established majors, the world's most artist-friendly international record label and a terrific group of the highest caliber people in Country music. I've known Renee' for over twenty years and seen her inspire many women who've been fortunate enough to work on her team.

I've worked with Lee Adams for over two decades. She is one of the most successful promo and marketing executives in Nashville working with Broken Bow Records who's artist roster includes Jason Aldean, Dustin Lynch, Chase Rice, Lainey Wilson and more. Lee shares great advice for all women in the industry.

I worked in radio with Denise Roberts early in our careers. She has gone on to work for numerous Nashville record labels and Country stars including Toby Keith among others. Recently, Denise made the transition to insurance specifically in the Music industry and has gotten a chance to work directly for her mentor, who she introduces in her video clip!

Shelia Shipley Biddy has mentored my friend Denise Roberts, has been mentioned by many other women as their hero. As you can clearly see, is a very strong leader in the Nashville music industry delivering insurance, grants with high medical bills and end of life planning. Shelia offers great career advice for anyone but especially for women this International Women's Day.

KellyLynn became Mrs. Chris Janson on 7/4/2010. All along the way, she has used her long career working in and around Country music to help her husband become one of the biggest new stars in the Country format. KellyLynn is obviously the Queen of Multitasking and her husband is very vocal about how much she contributes to their partnership.

Shannon is a new Promo Coordinator with MCA/UMG Records in Nashville and has great advice for other young women who dream of working in the music business. She has worked very hard to get the opportunity she has now and plans on building a strong career in the music industry. This is exactly how it's done.

Sharla McCoy is a Veteran Country Music Producer, Owner and Operator of McCoy Productions, a Radio, Records and Artist liaison , Wife, Mother, Equestrian Lover and most importantly CANCER SURVIVOR! I've worked with Sharla for longer than I can remember at events where her company produces artist interview sessions during large scale events in Nashville, Las Vegas, and elsewhere. She is super connected with the biggest Country stars in the industry and has become an icon for women as a leader in the Country music community.
