While Taylor Swift has been busy re-recording her albums and ruling the world on tour, some fans seem to think she's also had time to write a memoir-- and their argument is pretty convincing.
The theory originated on BookTok, the literary arm of TikTok.
It all started when a bookstore in Virginia drew attention to an untitled memoir with a July 9 release date. The post stressed how strange it was to have absolutely zero information about an upcoming release, especially keeping its author completely anonymous. It also claimed that the mysterious book will have a “huge initial print run.”
Things really started to heat up once Swift announced her next re-released album would be Speak Now (Taylor's Version). The phrase "Dear reader" was included in her announcement which some fans believe to be a nod to Midnights bonus track of the same name, but also given this new info, a potential literary clue. Fans also pointed to the fact Taylor played an author in her All Too Well short film.
What really sent people over the edge was when Swift said the re-release would drop July 7 and arrive “just in time for July 9th, iykyk.” (the same day the alleged memoir is thought to be released) Fans caught that as a reference to the lyrics of her Speak Now track “Last Kiss,” but could it have a double meaning?
Additionally, a New York-based bookstore employee revealed he was asked to take down a TikTok speculating about the mysterious book, which he claimed more information about the memoir would be released on June 13, which is, of course, Swift’s lucky number.
So I guess we'll have to wait until July for a potential memoir but let me just say, this is one I'll definitely pre-order!
