Nike says it has nothing to do with a controversial sneaker drop from Lil Nas X, and is suing over it.
The rapper is collaborating with a streetwear company on custom, modified Nike Air Max sneakers that each contain a drop of human blood in the soles. The kicks are decorated with pentagrams and a Bible verse about Satan & sold out immediately online to the tune of $1018 a pair. The drop coincides with Lil Nas X’s new single and an accompanying music video that features the rapper twerking on a CGI devil.
Nike says there's already evidence of "significant confusion" involving Nike's relationship to the shoe when in reality they had no part in the creation. Nike noted how the shoes have caused numerous people to call for a boycott of the company.
