Are you having trouble landing a Covid vaccine appointment? You're not alone.
Key metrics in Maryland have been declining for weeks, including new cases, hospitalizations and both the 7 day statewide positivity rate and the daily positivity rate as well. Governor Larry Hogan noted that statewide hospitalizations are below 1,000 for the first time since mid November, and the 7 day statewide positivity rate hovers around 4%. And over the last two weeks, there have been multiple days where new cases reported have been less than 1,000 per day. But despite the good news of the declining metrics, the challenge of getting vaccines into the arms of Marylanders still persists.
In an effort to help senior citizens in Maryland get vaccinated, Baltimore clergy and medical professionals have launched an unofficial COVID vaccine hotline aimed to assist Marylanders 80 and older with securing a vaccine. The number is 410-929-6024 and volunteers will not only help you sign up and secure an appointment, but also even coordinate travel!
Maryland is performing about 1.6 million vaccinations per day, according to Dr. Jonathan Thierman with LifeBridge Hospital but he hopes with the approval of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine there will be a major uptick.
