It’s official – “Live PD” is over.
Despite "Live PD" being one of A&E's highest rated shows, A&E, along with the production company, MGM’s Big Fish Entertainment, that produces the show, came to the decision jointly to officially pull the plug. The network originally pulled the show in the wake of the George Floyd protests.
“This is a critical time in our nation’s history and we have made the decision to cease production on ‘Live PD,’” the network said in a statement. “Going forward, we will determine if there is a clear pathway to tell the stories of both the community and the police officers whose role it is to serve them. And with that, we will be meeting with community and civil rights leaders as well as police departments.”
Fans of the show are shocked and unhappy to say the least. Fueling their frustration and confusion was host Dan Abrams statement on Twitter from just last night, reassuring fans the show wasn't going anywhere, “To all of you asking whether#LivePDcoming back. . .The answer is yes,” he wrote. “All of us associated with the show are as committed to it as ever. We are still discussing some specifics but I want to assure the#LivePDNation that we are not abandoning you.
