Caroll Spinney, Big Bird & Oscar the Grouch Puppeteer Passes Away

  • Caroll Spinney, the legend behind longtime "Sesame Street" neighbors Big Bird and Oscar The Grouch, has died at 85
  • He died at his Connecticut home yesterday 
  • Spinney retired from puppeteering last year after being diagnosed with the neurological movement disorder dystonia
  • Spinney won five Daytime Emmys for his work on Sesame Street and earned a lifetime achievement award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 2006.

Golden Globe Nominations

  • Catch the awards on NBC January 5th at 8pm this year with Rickey Gervais as your host!
  • Top contenders for best drama are “The Irishman,” “Marriage Story,” “1917,” “Joker” and “Little Women.” For best musical or comedy, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” “Jojo Rabbit,” “Knives Out,” “Rocketman” and “Dolemite Is My Name” will likely be considered.
  • TV drama candidates include “Succession,” “The Crown,” “Game of Thrones” and “Big Little Lies,” while possible TV musical or comedy nominees include “Fleabag,” “Barry,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “The Kominsky Method.”

NBC Jumps into the New Year’s Eve Fray with “A Toast to 2019.”

  • The special will be hosted by Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. It will feature appearances by Kristen Bell, Martin Short, Maya Rudolph, Tony Hale, Terry Crews and Nikki Glaser.
  • Several celebrities will stop by including Carson Kressley, Loni Love, Howie Mandel, Josh Mankiewicz, Craig Melvin, Natalie Morales, Brent Morin, Keith Morrison, Dennis Murphy, Patton Oswalt, Al Roker, Ashley Tisdale and Johnny Weir.
  • The special airs at 8pm on December 31.

  • Frozen II earned $34.7 million, taking its domestic haul to 337.6 million and its global gross to $919 million. The animated sequel will most likely be Disney's sixth movie this year to top $1 billion.
