  • To honor all first responders, Mission BBQ will be giving free sandwiches to all fire, police & first responders today, the 18th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Centers

Ms. Monopoly Gives Women An Edge

  • Jen Boswinkel, an exec for Hasbro Gaming, tells USA Today, "With all of the things surrounding female empowerment, it felt right to bring this to Monopoly in a fresh new way. It’s giving the topic some relevancy to everyone playing it that everybody gets a turn, and this time women get an advantage at the start.”
  • In Ms. Monopoly, women get $240 when they pass “go,” while men get the usual $200. Also, women will start the game with $1,900 instead of $1,500.
  • The slogan on the box reads, “The first game where women make more than men.”
  • In a statement, Hasbro said, “[It’s] a fun new take on the game that creates a world where women have an advantage often enjoyed by men. But don’t worry, if men play their cards right, they can make more money too.”


Apple Announces Cheaper iPhone, Pricing For Streaming Service

  • Largely unchanged, Apple announced their new line up of iPhones including the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro & iPhone 11 Pro Max
    • Most noteworthy, improved cameras, longer battery life, a new night mode and the iPhone 11 starts at just $699, a much lower price point than we’ve seen in the past
  • Apple also announced Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade will be $4.99/month and roll out Nov. 1—you can also score a free year of the subscription service with the purchase of a new iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV
  • They also announced a new Apple Watch & iPad


Boy Who Used Life Savings To Help Hurricane Victims Gets Rewarded

  • 7 year old Jermaine saved up for two years and raised about $100 in hopes he and his family could visit Disney World-- Instead, he used the money to buy water, chips and hot dogs for Hurricane Dorian evacuees, feeding about 100 people
  • The Walt Disney Company got wind of this and gifted him a trip for him and his family to visit their Orlando Parks
  • Jermaine says he’s most excited to visit Animal Kingdom to see the lions, because The Lion King is his favorite movie
  • Jermaine says his motto is “live to give”


Michael Jordan Donates $1 Million Dollars To Hurricane Relief

  • Celebrities are stepping up to the plate to help out in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian including basketball star Michael Jordan who is pledging $1 million dollars to relief efforts
  • "I am devastated to see the destruction that Hurricane Dorian has brought to the Bahamas, where I own property and visit frequently," MJ said.
  • "My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering and to those who have lost loved ones."
  • Jordan, through his rep, Estee Portnoy, adds ... "As the recovery and relief efforts continue, I will be tracking the situation closely and working to identify non-profit agencies where the funds will have the most impact."
