Ray Lewis' latest endeavor, a restaurant in Little Italy.
The former Raven and current Hall of Famer is partnering with the Gambino family, current owners of Ciao Bella on High Street for his latest project. Lewis has been a long time customer of Ciao Bella, fostering the friendship with the Gambino family for the better part of a decade and referring to the Gambinos as family, saying, "it’s a natural fit.” So when Tony Gambino, who runs the restaurant with his sister Lisa, became ill, they asked Lewis if he would be interested in coming in to help run the business, and without hesitation his answer was yes.
Lew Gambino's will replace Ciao Bella next month and Lewis has been helping to refresh and update the atmosphere and menu to include a more local approach plus adding on more more salads, vegetables and fish. Lisa Gambino is assuring patrons all the classic Italian favorites will remain on the menu plus new menu additions will continually be added and the restaurant will offer private events as well.
According to the Baltimore Sun, "a ribbon cutting is set for Aug. 26 with invited guests including “local sports figures, politicians and other dignitaries.” The restaurant will be open to the public Aug. 27."
