Bill Knauf, President and General Manager of the Maryland Jockey Club

Bill Knauf is the President and General Manager of The Maryland Jockey Club Inc., the non-profit charged with shaping the future of Thoroughbred racing and wagering in Maryland. With over 20 years in the industry, Knauf previously served as Vice President of Business Development at Monmouth Park, where he played a pivotal role in marquee events like the 2007 Breeders’ Cup and the Haskell Stakes. 

A native of Schenectady, New York, Knauf graduated from Tufts University and the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program. Beginning his career at Monmouth Park in 1998, he steadily advanced to oversee one of the Northeast’s premier racetracks. In his current role with the Maryland Jockey Club, Knauf is guiding a $400 million investment in Maryland’s racing facilities, focusing on evolving Pimlico Race Course and the Preakness Stakes while contributing to the revitalization of Baltimore’s Park Heights community.
