William Robert “Billy” Cole is President of Cole Roofing, an award-winning roofing company that has been providing quality commercial roofing solutions for over a century. With more than 25 years of experience in the roofing industry, and more than 15 years in the solar industry, Mr. Cole oversees the strategy, culture, and future success of Cole Roofing and Gordian Energy Systems.
Under Mr. Cole’s leadership since 2012, Cole Roofing has experienced consistent year-over-year improvements and expanded its service offerings to include innovative renewable energy solutions. He has managed and estimated multimillion-dollar projects for customers including Stanley Black and Decker, Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland, along with a number of local, state and federal government entities.
Mr. Cole officially began his career at Cole Roofing on a roofing crew. Prior to that he followed his Father to work to help however needed. From 1996 through 2004, he progressed through the ranks in roles including foreman, HR manager, project manager, estimator and Director of Service. In 2004, he was promoted to his first executive position as Vice President. In 2012, Cole Roofing’s Board of Directors promoted Mr. Cole to lead the organization as President.
Mr. Cole has substantial experience in a variety of roofing systems including hot asphalt systems, single-ply applications, sheet metal, metal roof systems, metal wall assemblies, and various roof coatings. He also has extensive experience in Photovoltaic Solar arrays in roof top, ground mounted, and canopy applications.
As the leader of Gordian Energy Systems, Mr. Cole drives the team to find success as a solar developer, designer, constructor, and O&M provider. At their core they work to bring renewable energy to the commercial and industrial market through installations on rooftops, on the ground and as canopies over parking areas. In addition to solar many of the projects include installing EV charging stations.
Mr. Cole holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Towson University. In 2014, he was honored as one of Baltimore Business Journal’s 40 Under 40.
