Tom DeMayo of Wichita, Kansas, is a Navy veteran. He's also an artist and a craftsman -- and he's been using his special woodworking skills to raise money for other vets.
Tom creates flags out of two-by-fours. He sands and stains and varnishes the flags, with each one taking between 12 and 15 hours to complete.
He creates them with such care that they can be hung outside in the elements.
And when he's done creating the flags, he puts them up for auction -- and donates all the proceeds to the Kansas Honor Flight, a group that gives a boost to Kansas veterans of World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Since 2019, Tom has created 194 flags and raised nearly $50,000. And, he has no plans of slowing down.
Instead, he looks forward to completing his 200th flag by the end of 2022. (KSN-TV)
