Scientists in England have created a robot that kills cockroaches with a laser.
The robot is controlled by two cameras and a small computer running an artificial intelligence program -- and the researchers say the machine can be programmed to target different types of insects like mosquitoes or locusts.
While the idea of knocking out pests with lasers -- and not using pesticides -- seems very cool, there is a problem.
Even the team that created the gadget admits that it will never be absolutely safe and will very likely never be used in homes. You know ... because there's a laser blasting whenever the robot sees a cockroach. You don't want to be walking around and take a laser beam to the ankle under any circumstances.
