The End of Elvis Vegas weddings?

Couples feeling a burning love and a desire to get married in Las Vegas by an Elvis impersonator better hurry up and do it because it's now or never.

"The King" has been a big part of the Las Vegas wedding industry for decades, but that may all come to an end soon because Authentic Brands Group, the licensing company which controls Elvis Presley's name and image, has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Vegas wedding chapels holding Elvis-themed ceremonies. Owners of these businesses perform thousands of Elvis-officiated weddings each year and are just now seeing business returning to normal after the pandemic.

The letter ordered chapels to halt the unauthorized use of “Presley’s name, likeness, voice image, and other elements of Elvis Presley’s persona in advertisements, merchandise and otherwise.” Chapel owners were given a May 27th deadline to comply with the order, or face legal action. The cease-and-desist order however does not pertain to Elvis-themed stage shows, which have also been very popular in Las Vegas for decades. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
