Tom Hanks threw the ceremonial first pitch at the Cleveland Guardians' home opener on Friday at Progressive Field, but he wasn't alone on the mound.
The actor reunited with his old Cast Away co-star Wilson -- the most famous volleyball in motion picture history. Hanks has been a fan of the team, now known as the Guardians, since the late '70s when he was living in Cleveland. Hanks carried Wilson onto the mound and held him up to show off the team's logo on one side of the ball. He then set Wilson down and tossed the pitch to Larry Doby Jr., son of the late Larry Doby, the former Cleveland outfielder who was the first Black player in the American League. While Hanks was preparing to throw, Wilson was rolling around the infield on his own -- driven by remote control.
