Many parents choose to get their kids things they might not need, but that would make them happy. Whether it isan extravagant toyor a pricey video game system, moms and dads should be able to decide to treat their children to something without getting shamed. However, there is probably a line tohow far they can goand not get backlash, and many feel one mother in Australia might have crossed it.
Her name isRoxy Jacenkoand the PR exec is taking some heat because she gave her nine-year-old daughterPixiea car -not a toy car, an actual car. And it wasn't just any vehicle, it was a $62,000Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class.
She posted a photo of the car on Instagram, captioning it, "Visits today from@fineautofinishingfor@pixiecurtiscar - next level - looks brand new 👌❤️🙏🏻"
Commenters had a lot to say about the purchase. One wrote, "Seriously? A car for someone who can't drive for how many years," while another asked, "What use does the car have to a nine-year-old?" Someone else questioned, "How can a child have a car?" and another said, "Please tell me this is a stitch up! It has to be!"
Others came to Roxy's defense, voicing things like, "So what. Good on Roxy andOlliefor being successful enough to buy their kids cars."
Since Pixie still does have a few years before she can get behind the wheel, Roxy explained why she bought the girl a car, tellingNews.com.au, "It's of utmost importance to me that both she and her brotherHuntertravel safely on the roads when going to and from school so I purchased a car for her. Obviously she doesn't drive it, she is driven in it as is her brother to and from school and for any activities… Given the number of fatalities on our roads their safety is so important so if it means buying a car that has extra safety features that’s what I'll do."
