You probably use Alexa to play music or tell you the weather, but Amazon’s voice assistant will soon be capable of much more. The tech giant recently announced it’s making Alexa more conversational, so you won’t have to say “Alexa” before each command. And she’ll be able to help plan date night for you, too.
Amazon showed off the features at it’s artificial intelligence conference in Las Vegas. During a display of how the new technology will work, a human voice asked Alexa for Saturday showtimes for the movie “Dark Phoenix.” Alexa answered and after a short back and forth convo, the human chose a 7:05pm showtime and asked for two tickets. “That’ll be $21,” Alexa answered. “Should I book the tickets?”
But what the virtual assistant did next was pretty impressive. Alexa then asked, “Will you be eating out near Regal Cinebarre Palace Station?” The human tells her yes, to find a Chinese restaurant. She then offers suggestions, makes a reservation, and even asked if the person needs a ride. So as part of Alexa’s new capabilities, she’ll be able to get movie tickets from Atom Tickets, line up an Uber, and make dinner reservations with OpenTable. No word on when Alexa will be deal with your dates, but we’ll keep you posted.
