Dolly Parton’s older brother, Coy “Denver” Parton, has died. He was 82.
The country legend lost Coy “Denver” Parton on Thursday, July 23. He was born on August 16, 1943. He is remembered as “a crane operator building bridges for years,” and “a homestead farmer and an avid hunter,” reads an obituary shared by Atchley Funeral Home in East Tennessee.
The obituary states that Coy “Denver” Parton is preceded in death by wife Carolyn Parton, father Lee Parton, mother Avie Lee Owens Parton, infant brother Larry Parton, brothers David Parton, Randy Parton and Floyd Parton, nice Tever Parton and brothers-in-law Carl Dean and Ray Buzzeo. was born on August 16, 1943. is survived by daughters Chris Parton and Jennifer Parton, grandson Ian Parton and fiancée Taylor York, brother Bobby Parton, sisters Willadeene Buzzeo, Dolly Parton, Stella Parton; Cassie Griffith (Greg), Freida Parton, Rachel George (Eric), Laura Price (David), sister-in-law Kay Parton, and “host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins,” the obituary states. The obituary also includes special nephew Mitchell Blalock, and special friends Nancy Hurst and Kathy Farr.
Coy “Denver” Parton will be remembered in a private service, according to the obituary from Atchley Funeral Home. Dolly Parton, 80, has not publicly addressed the loss of her brother as of publication time on Monday afternoon (July 27).
