Kelsea Ballerini Reveals Why Her Go-To Workout 'Changed Everything For Me'

Kelsea Ballerini opened up about what “has changed everything for me” when it comes to prioritizing her health.

The country singer-songwriter, 31, spoke with Women’s Health for the publication’s November/December cover story, which published online on Tuesday morning (October 15). Throughout the conversation, Ballerini took a deep dive into her experiences with therapy throughout her life, how she found an exercise routine that suits her best, what she typically eats in a day, and more.

Ballerini recalled working with a personal trailer as she launched her career in her 20s, though she didn’t stick with the challenging fitness plan that “almost felt like I was punishing myself to become what I thought I was supposed to be, visually, in my industry,” she shared with Women’s Health. Instead, Ballerini uses a Megaformer, similar to a Pilates reformer, for a method that aims to provide a high-intensity and low-impact exercise, the publication states. Ballerini said she does that “as much as I can. I love how it makes me feel doing it—I feel strong. Having a good relationship with how I’m moving my body has changed everything for me.”

Ballerini’s Women’s Health interview arrives as she gets ready to release her highly-anticipated fifth studio album, Patterns. The 15-track record will follow Subject To Change, Ballerini’s latest full-length project that arrived in September 2022, and Rolling Up The Welcome Mat, Ballerini’s vulnerable EP and accompanying short film that shared her story of heartache and healing after her divorce.

Patterns includes “Cowboys Cry Too” with Noah Kahan, “Two Things,” “Sorry Mom,” and “First Rodeo,” which is slated to release on Wednesday (October 16). “First Rodeo” is the final track to arrive before the full album makes its debut on October 25. Ballerini will mark the release with a sold-out album release show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The October 29 concert will also include sister duos Aly & AJ and Tigirlily Gold in the lineup.

Though the album release show is sold out, iHeartRadio is holding a contest to attend the concert and catch up with Ballerini in a backstage meet and greet. To enter to win, head over to the free iHeartRadio app, or click HERE for more info.

“The whole time I was making this album, I was visualizing and dreamscaping ways to bring it to life for our live show, and it was something I couldn't wait more than five days after its release to do,” Ballerini said in a statement. “When good things happen, when new chapters begin, you want to share them with your people. This time around, it just so happens to be in a bucket list venue in the heart of a city that is landmarked heavily in the music and visuals of PATTERNS. I'm so giddy to be celebrating this album release at Madison Square Garden...see you in New York City!”
