Most of us spend more time than we’d care to admit online, between the things we have to do and all the time we spend scrolling. Research shows more than 5.4-billion people use the Internet regularly, which is 61.7% of the people on the planet. So, what’s everyone doing online? New research gives us a clear picture.
Visual Capitalist has determined the most visited websites in the world, as of June 2024. And it turns out, the web is basically getting smaller, because more than a third of the entire world’s Internet traffic comes from just 15 websites.
- You probably won’t be surprised to learn that Google is the website used most often worldwide.
- It accounts for 18.32% of global web traffic, with 8.5-billion searches every day.
- Google’s 82-billion views a month is nearly three times as many as the second most visited website, YouTube, which gets 31-billion monthly views and accounts for 6.69% of web traffic.
- That means Alphabet, the parent company of Google and YouTube, gets a quarter of all Internet traffic.
