If you happen to have a box of old grenades laying around, you should let the local authorities know so that they could come over and pick them up. Do not bring them into the police station and say, "hey look what I have."

A California resident walked into the Pleasanton Police Department last week and dropped off a box of grenades he found in his garage and believed were innate. He was wrong. Police determined the grenades were live and called the bomb squad into the lobby to pick them up and move them to an area where they could be destroyed. It's not exactly clear how how old these grenades were or how they turned up this person's garage.
