The American Heart Association recently recognized six Baltimore teachers for using their CPR skills to save a school bus driver who had a cardiac arrest at their school fort garrison elementary in Pikesville.
The teachers attributed their successful intervention to their annual CPR training, which allowed them to respond effectively in the emergency.
The incident underscores the importance of widespread CPR training, as around 350-thousand Americans experience cardiac arrests outside hospitals annually, but only 40% receive bystander CPR.
