For the first time in 39 years, Baltimore's Major Arena Soccer League team will not be taking the field.
On Jan. 15, the Baltimore Sun revealed that Baltimore Blast owner Ed Hale Sr. confirmed to them that the anticipated makeshift 2021 schedule would be cancelled.
“After trying to do whatever we could to play — right now we don’t even have a place to practice let alone play [games] at SECU — we just couldn’t [make it happen],” Hale said. “It’s no other reason than COVID being in the position that it is today. It’s a terrible thing. Everybody tried to cooperate and work with us, but everybody is understandably nervous about this.”
According to the Baltimore Sun, the team is hoping to return for the 2021-2022 season in November.
Blast season ticket holders can expect more information next week.
