Carly Pearce Sticks To Healthy Diet On Thanksgiving With One Exception

Carly Pearce's healthy diet isn't affected too much, even on special holidays like Thanksgiving. In a recent interview with her record label the country singer revealed that her family tends to serve healthier Thanksgiving dishes, although there is one sugary exception.

"My dad had a massive heart attack when I was 19, and it kind of changed the game for my family as far as how we eat," the "Next Girl" singer explained. "We have a modified Thanksgiving, I feel like."

Pearce continued on to reveal the one dish that she always has regardless of her diet. "We don’t go crazy on a lot of things, but there’s one thing that I will forever want ‘the real thing,’ as I call it, and that’s pumpkin pie," she said. "You can’t mess with a pumpkin pie. So, there may be different variations of how we make other things, but pumpkin pie is full fat and all."

Earlier this month, Pearce opened up about her divorce from Michael Ray for the first time since publicly announcing the news in June after eight months of marriage.

"There were moments I seriously did not know if I could breathe," she told People. "It was awful. It is awful. But I think that what's been awesome has been trusting myself and trusting what I have always known, which is God won't take me through something that he won't bring me out of or bring good from."

Despite the quick split, Pearce doesn't think of the marriage as a mistake. "I believe we don't go through things that we're not supposed to go through," she continued. "My love was real. I will stand by that forever."

"I'm sure that anybody who's ever gone through this goes through different emotions," she continued. "I've been sad. I've been angry. I've been relieved. I try to not be mad at myself. I try to not be mad at him. I think that holding grudges or staying mad only hurts you, and it's just not healthy. So, I try to remind myself of that. And sure, I have days where I'm so mad at myself for just not knowing this was how it was all going to end up for me. My gosh, if I could go back, sure. But it's a part of my story, and that's okay."

Although it's been a difficult year in her personal life, Pearce is thankful for the success she's seen in her career. In February she released her self-titled sophomore album which featured her chart-topping, CMA Award winning duet with Lee Brice, "I Hope You're Happy Now." She also recently released her brand new single, "Next Girl."
