Juneteenth Events Planned Around Baltimore

Juneteenth (June 19) commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and to celebrate the holiday, several events in the DMV are being held to honor African American history.

Here is a rundown of some of the activities planned (credit: Baltimore Sun):

11 a.m. to 6 p.m.“Juneteenth: A Virtual Event” hosted by The Academy Art Museum, Easton.

3 p.m. to 6 p.m.“March for Freedom: Are We Really Free?” sponsored by Change Starts With Hope and Woodlawn Park Church of Christ. Starts at Baltimore Police Department Headquarters, 601 E. Fayette St., and ends at Douglass-Myers Maritime Park, 1417 Thames St.

3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.“March for Racial Equality”Starts at Save a Lot , 5101 East Drive, Halethorpe, and ends at Arbor Manor Park, 1135 Elm Road, Arbutus.

3 p.m. to 5 p.m.“Zoom Discussion,”hosted by Arena Players Inc. RSVP at arenaplayers@gmail.comwith the subject line “Juneteenth Zoom RSVP.”

5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m “A Time for Change.” Register at https://bfsa.jhu.edu

5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.“Celebration 2020”picnic hosted by Patterson Park and Canton neighbors at the Pagoda, Patterson Park.

7 p.m.“Juneteenth Presentation”hosted by the Arena Players on Facebook Live.

7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.“The Power Within: A Celebration of Community Resilience,”a virtual panel discussion livestreamed on Facebook by the Frederick Douglass Foundation of Maryland.
