Country/folk singer/songwriter John Prine has died at the age of 73 due to coronavirus complications, his family confirmed to Rolling Stone.
Prine's family shared that COVID-19 hospitalized the singer on March 26 and he was intubated on March 29. Just four days ago, his wife Fiona shared on Instagram that he had "pneumonia in both lungs" and that he had "also developed some peripheral issues that are being treated with meds, including antibiotics." Fiona has also tested positive for coronavirus.
Among many accolades, Prine was a two-time Grammy winner, a 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award winner with the Recording Academy, a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and recognized in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Our thoughts are with his family during this time.
